1980 was the first set that I collected consistently so probably why it is always my favorite. Although the 1984 cards I always thought were one of the nicest. At least of that era.
I got my first packs of baseball cards in 1981, so the 1980s were always exotic to me. I love the banner motif.

As a kid I hated when I got highlight cards. They were not regular cards to me, and did nothing for me when I was collecting cards for each team.
Better or worse than checklist cards?
The checklist served their purpose. Of course now looking back the highlight cards are often some of the nicer cards.
