I like that Tabler is from Cincinatti, Oh.

As if the card-back writer was mildly surprised.

As you probably know, Tabler wound up 43 for 88 with the bases loaded. His .489 average is, by far, the best of all time. Tony Gwynn is next at .444 and then there’s another substantial gap to Earl Averill at .410.

Amazing. A quick check shows Tabler and Averill got a bases-loaded chance every 45-50 PAs. Gwynn's number was closer to 75. Wonder how often the average batter has the bases loaded in front of him. Thanks for the extra context!

Looking at the back of the Pat Tabler card...it gives a asterisk * noting he led the league in that stat...but then he has none...

Great piece!!! Looking at the back of the Pat Tabler though I think you missed a great lead in for one more “What’s Going On Here “ card. It says he was traded for Jerry Dzbinski. Check out Dzbinski’s 83 Fleer.

Tabler's card also notes he was traded from the White Sox to the Indians...then gives his Cubs stats...
